Under the Lights

Jonathan's final game was played this past Friday night under the lights. He was given those eye things (to help him see better...and to look machismo) and some double bubble to chew. He played the best game of his season. A great hit, a great throw to first, and a great run-down at home plate to get the out. AWESOMENESS!

This is Jonathan's friend Kyle from kindergarten. His shoe was untied and Chris didn't want him to trip while running the bases. You can see they were sharing a smile when I took the picture.

After their victory (I'm pretty sure they only lost one game...even though there are score keepers the results are not published...) all of the players were given a ribbon (for participating...nice...) and our boys were treated to pizza.

DREW WAS EVEN GIVEN A RIBBON FOR BEING THE BAT BOY...

Andrea was always such a trooper. She never wanted to miss a game and stayed as long as I did. It was awesome to have someone watch the game with (besides Drew...who normally played his DS...when he wasn't being Bat Boy...)


It was a great season and I'm going to miss seeing the boys play. I'm anxious for Drew to play next year. It's my hope that we can get the boys on the same team. Who knows if it's even possible...

Bat Boy

As you are aware, Drew's first attempt at being bat boy was thwarted by his hunger.

His second (and last) attempt was much better.

I think Drew felt pretty special to be included and most of the time did the job well...Except when he wanted more popcorn...or to play his DS...or whatever else he conjured up...

He was a trooper this season, and hopefully next year he'll get his turn.

More T-Ball

We had to leave Pittsburgh early to get to Jonathan's 9:30 a.m. game the day after we endured the zoo. Lucky for me, I married Jeff Gordon's biggest fan. OK, just kidding but Chris set a record-breaking pace on our way home...

We made it home with a couple of minutes to spare then headed out to the ball field.

Drew attempted to be the bat boy but by the second inning his ravenous hunger was unbearable. Incessant pestering got him nothing from me but Papa decided to be the good guy and buy him a huge bag of chips and Gatorade. It's amazing what those fried potatoes do to the morale of a five year old child! I heard no complaints the rest of the game...and Papa was the hero.

In case you were wondering...he ate the whole bag.

Pittsburgh

Last week our family took a quick trip to PA to catch up with some old friends and with each other.

We met the Jones family at the Pittsburgh Zoo and spent a few hours with thousands of other people that wanted to get up close and personal with the animals in the 150 degree heat. OK, so the numbers could possibly be exaggerated. Sorry.

In spite of the crowds and heat I enjoyed catching up. The kids were very well behaved and the adults were able to have pseudo-adult conversations.

I really thought that this pile was poo. I'm glad I was wrong...Something about a hornet's nest??!!

After saying our good-byes and waiting in traffic for almost an hour, we were finally on our way to our destination for the evening...

We found a good deal on a newer hotel near the city (with awesome decor) and decided to invest in our family. We went swimming, played generic Jenga, bought snacks at the overpriced 'marketplace' in the lobby, and even ate at King's Family Restaurant for dinner.

Although we had to get up early the next morning to make it back for Jonathan's game, good times were had by all.

These last few pictures were from our room. If you look closely, you can see a nice patio overlooking the river. It seems as though each night they have a fire pit and we even saw people grilling out. Interesting...
